Keep Austin Weird

I officially love it here. Austin rocks! And the weather rocks too. 64 tonight?

I’ll take it! 🙂

After Megan parked the car, we hit up the Iron Cactus, per the recommendation of one of the valets. We also met up with one of my friends from Boston College, Dan, who is in Austin this weekend too! Total coincidence!! 🙂

The Iron Cactus was a really cool and fun bar…and the food was delicious.

We started with chips and salsa. Round 2 of the day.

Kasey’s “art.”

We were super hungry and inhaled these bad boys. The salsa was delish. One was spicy and one was mild.

Drinks! Homemade margaritas. Best I’ve ever had! No sugar!

Cheers!

Dinner was a tough choice! There were so many yummy sounding dishes to choose from. I ended up with the fiesta salad: lettuce, chicken, black beans, jicama slaw, tomatoes, corn, pecans, and sun dried tomato vinaigrette

Kasey got the Citrus Spinach Salad with blackened tuna

Dan, the fish tacos

And Megan got the chicken fajitas!

After lots of lovely convo we hit the pavement to scope out the scene on 6th Street.

Here, Kasey just read library upside down (card on Megan’s lanyard) and thought it it read L. Brady and was like, “L. Brady?? What the heck is L. Brady??”

It was sooooo funny. Or maybe we were just so giddy with the excitement of being together. 🙂

Or maybe you had to be there?

The Driskill

Tart!

Menu

Little strawberry + vanilla

Toppings included: Snickers, crunch, butterfinger

And the finished product!

What a great night!

And looking into today…

As soon as Kasey and Megan wake up we are going to head out on a 2.5-3 mile run that includes a stop at Whole Foods to pick up breakfast.

Then it’s off to the Expo to grab out numbers and some race schtuff!

And then lunch and shopping! My goal for this trip is to find a new pair of cowboy boots. 🙂
